No country – or rather, no island – has ever fascinated me as deeply as one of the youngest on Earth: Iceland. Its raw beauty and otherworldly landscapes feel almost unreal, as if nature had brought its boldest dreams to life right here. And it’s exactly this magic that I want to share with you.
Vast open plains where the wind whispers its stories meet towering mountains and glaciers rising like giants into the sky. Countless waterfalls cascade over cliffs, carving their path through deep canyons before flowing into rivers that wind across the land and eventually reach black beaches shaped by the fire of ancient volcanic eruptions.
When the sun hangs low on the horizon and bathes the landscape in golden light, or when the night sky dances in curtains of northern lights, Iceland reveals its most magical side. These are the moments we photographers search for – and it’s in those moments that I’ll be by your side.
Whether you’re just starting out or have been photographing for years doesn’t matter. In our small group, we take the time to share, to learn from one another, and to capture the beauty of Iceland in powerful images. It’s not only about technique – it’s about experiencing consciously, about catching the moments that stay with you.
And even if you don’t photograph at all but simply want to discover Iceland with your own eyes, you’re still welcome! Just be aware: here, everything revolves around photography – about seeing, experiencing, and preserving the magic.
THE JOURNEY BEGINS
Despite the name “Iceland” or “Eisland,” the summers on the island are cool and the winters mild. But that doesn’t mean there aren’t any surprises! It can be extremely windy, very rainy, and even snowy — sometimes even in summer.
“If you don’t like the weather, wait five minutes.”
This saying describes Iceland’s weather perfectly. To ensure we’re well prepared for those five minutes in between, good planning is essential.
Part of that preparation takes place every evening in the hostels or apartments where we’ll be staying. During the day, we travel in a spacious camper along the Ring Road — Iceland’s main route. This flexible way of traveling allows us to react spontaneously to changing weather and to explore remote locations far from typical tourist paths. Plus, we always have all our gear with us without having to worry about space.
You will arrive at Keflavík Airport (KEF), which is often mistakenly associated with Reykjavík. In reality, it is located about a 40-minute drive to the west, on the Suðurnesjabær peninsula.
The evening before we head out into our adventure, we’ll spend time in one of my absolute favorite bars: “Lebowski Bar“
Your overnight stay in a hostel is already included!
THE JOURNEY IS THE DESTINATION
Our journey begins in Reykjavík and takes us from Snæfellsnes all the way to Höfn and back to Reykjavík again.
That’s roughly 1,700 km!
Your meals are taken care of throughout the entire trip – breakfast and dinner are included. We’ll shop together to accommodate individual preferences and make sure no one goes hungry.
Every evening, we’ll return to a cozy hostel where we can unwind after the day. There, we’ll plan our next steps, review our photos, and share stories – because this trip is not just about photography, but about the experience we share.
Iceland teaches us to stay flexible – the weather shapes our adventure. But one thing is always on our minds: the night sky. Because when the Aurora Borealis appears, we don’t want to miss a single moment.
And of course, a few surprises await you along the way!
